A regular guest of the Black Swan Folk Club over many years, we welcome
Andy Irvine to the NCEM. A fine musician, Andy has played with legendary Irish folk bands Sweeney’s Men, Planxty and Patrick Street, collaborated with the likes of Paul Brady and Donal Lunny, and is a world music pioneer firmly established as one of the great Irish singers.
Filling the role of the archetypal troubadour, his show and travelling lifestyle reflect his lifelong influence Woody Guthrie, with a repertoire of Irish traditional songs, dexterous Balkan dance tunes and self-penned material.
He is hailed as “a tradition in himself”. A voice that uncovers the very soul of Ireland.
