“Bacchus is a pow’r divine”
This emotive programme of songs, dialogues and trios by Purcell and Blow celebrates the genius of these two extraordinary English composers. Purcell combines his innate sense of the natural rhythms of speech with great melodic flair and harmonic invention, and his teacher, John Blow, is equally renown. Their songs for the theatre, streets, taverns and courts are arguably the most successful in the English language.
“The role was sung by the strong and beautifully-toned soprano Bethany Seymour’ Kölnische Rundschau

“Long has a gorgeous voice and eschews affectation” The Opera Critic
