Emma’s career was launched when in 1984 at the age of 17 she won BBC Young Musician of the Year followed by the Young Concert Artists Auditions in New York. Since then she has become one of the biggest selling classical artists of all time, selling well over half a million albums and downloads across the world. John Lenehan has long-term collaborations not only with Emma Johnson but also violinists Nigel Kennedy and Tasmin Little, as well as being a critically acclaimed concert soloist.
This mouth-watering recital starts with Brahms’s swansong piece, the last chamber music he ever wrote. In itself worth the ticket! Following on is arguably the most beautiful piece ever written for the clarinet, a rhapsodic masterpiece by Debussy.
Arnold’s Sonatina has a wonderful open-air quality. Tom Johnson’s Bedtime Stories will make you laugh out loud! The Elgar is an Italian folk song extracted from his overture In the South. Bernstein’s jazz inspired Riffs will take you home dancing -guaranteed to bring the house down!
