I Can Play Inspiration Day - Secondary Workshop
£5 per family
This June, the hugely successful I Can Play! project will be staging the very first I Can Play Inspiration Day livestreamed from the National Centre for Early Music, aimed at families with D/deaf children.
This digital workshop is aimed at families with secondary aged young people with any degree of deafness. Expect lots of musical fun, without the need to have any musical background or instruments to hand. Our music leaders will guide young people through activities via Zoom, so if they want to contribute ideas to the session they can communicate with them and other participants on the day! An interpreter will be present throughout the session.
When you purchase a ticket to the workshop, you will automatically be sent a link to join us for our Question and Answer session later that day (also taking place via Zoom) and a Youtube link to a short concert taking place at the end of the day. The Q+A gives all families and young people the chance to talk to our practitioners, who are a mix of D/deaf and hearing musicians about their experience of making music with D/deaf children and why it’s important for D/deaf children to make music. The concert will include performances by the practitioners on the day which should be really inspiring for young people to watch.
You will be sent a link to your chosen workshop, the Q+A and Performance the day before the event. If you have any queries, please contact email@example.com.
The Inspiration Day is kindly funded by the Peter Sowerby Foundation. The I Can Play! project is part of the NCEM’s Youth Music funded Music4U programme, helping D/deaf children to access music-making opportunities in York, Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire.
