Martin Simpson and Chris While & Julie Matthews
Charity concert in aid of the Motor Neurone Disease Association
£20.00 (£18.00 concessions)
Roland Walls and the Black Swan Folk Club have organised over 140 folk concerts at the NCEM since 2001, providing a highly valued and thoroughly enjoyable strand in our programming. Roland is now seriously ill with motor neurone disease and has been receiving considerable practical and financial support from the Motor Neurone Disease Association. His many friends in the folk world have rallied round to offer their assistance and tonight’s fundraiser for the MNDA features two leading acts that Roland has booked many times over his long career.
Chris While & Julie Matthews are two of England’s finest acoustic songwriters and singers and perform with great stage presence, while Martin Simpson is consistently named one of the best folk guitarists in the world, with a rich repertoire of original songs, traditional ballads and choice covers. He is the most nominated artist in the history of the BBC Folk Awards, most recently as Musician of the Year in 2018.
For Martin Simpson: "One of the virtuoso instrumentalists of the English music scene." The Guardian
For Chris While and Julie Matthews: "They light up the room with their amazing energy" James Taylor
