THE EBOR SINGERS with CHELYS CONSORT OF VIOLS
PAUL GAMESON director

Verse Anthems and Carols from the English Civil War

Amidst the fighting to secure his kingdom, Charles I still continued to celebrate the festive season, while Parliament did its best to abolish Christmas Day, 'the Old heathen's Feasting Day, in honour to Saturn their Idol-God, the Papist's Massing Day, the True Christian Man's Fasting Day'. Join us as we enjoy seasonal music from his war-torn court, with music by Jeffreys, Jenkins, William and Henry Lawes, Gibbons, Dering and Byrd.
