Saturday 8 February 7.30 pm At the Foot of the Cross St Michael le Belfrey, York £15.00 (£13.00 concessions | £5.00 full time students) Music from Rome including: Allegri Miserere Victoria Tenebrae Responsories Palestrina Stabat Mater We contemplate the events of Holy Week and of the Crucifixion in music composed in Rome for use in Lenten or Holy Week worship. Victoria’s response to the moving service of Tenebrae is amongst the most atmospheric of the Renaissance. We also perform Palestrina’s exquisite 8-part choral Stabat Mater written for the Sistine Chapel. The same building inspired the dark splendour of Allegri’s renowned Miserere which offers an austere but spine-tingling exploration of penitence. Please note there is a £1.50 administration fee per transaction
